Chapters 1-3 (Looking for Alaska) 05/12/14

In the beginning of the book, Miles Halter is about to go to boarding school in the middle of his high school career. He is doing this because he doesn’t have much of a life at his current school and wants to do more things. The first time Miles gets to his school, he gets the nickname Pudge because of how skinny he is, which makes it very ironic.

I think Pudge will become very popular in his new school. He’ll forget about his old friends and his roommate, Colonel. I think this because I feel like Colonel is very smart but doesn’t really care about others. But I think Pudge is going to fall in love with Colonel’s friend, Alaska. I think it will be difficult for them to work out because she is so different from everyone else. Alaska and him are very different, I feel like she will get him into more trouble than intended. This will lead to Miles parents getting mad at him possibly getting kicking him out of his new school.

I have a couple questions, such as: Why did Miles get thrown into the lake? Why do people hate Miles roommate so much? What is Alaska’s story and where is she from? Why did Miles want to go to a new school so bad, was it something with his past?

Chapters 23-End (Divergent) 05/05/14

I think we’ll see a lot more of Tris dealing with her grief and issues. I also think that we’re going to get to know Caleb (Tris’ brother). I think that there’s going to be something with Four and his dad, that deals with the past, and is one of his Fears. I also think Christina will find out that Tris killed Will and will try to kill her. If she can’t kill her, then I think Christina will seek revenge on Tris, either by killing her family or friends.

Over the weekend I chose to watch the movie. Although the movie was good, I enjoyed the book a lot better. In the movie they left out very important details. They also switched the plot, and a lot of parts that were important. I was really disappointed in how it didn’t reflect the book. But if I hadn’t read the book I think I would’ve enjoyed the movie a little more!

This is a nice video of the book vs movie:
